We are a regenerative agri-food permaculture farm in Southern Spain.
In alignment with agroecological practices we have eliminated dependency on purchased inputs and maintain a green cover which is cut down once a year making use of free natural resources through biological processes that recycle biomass, nutrients and increase water filtration into the soil. This enriches soil health and contribute to healthy wildlife that is not poisoned by chemical agricultural inputs such as herbicide and pesticide.
Instead of having livestock on the farm we allow wildlife to roam through our land without fencing and impediments to eat leftover almonds and they in turn fertilize the soil.
Our return to the natural, regenerative farming allows wild creatures back onto the land and this increases biodiversity of all kinds of living creatures including beneficial insects that protect the trees from pests that could harm the trees and the crops, this is synergy between all living beings in the ecosystem that keep it stable and thriving.
Our farm is a productive farm which is not limited to produce that is sold but we also hold courses, provide consultancy services and educate volunteers that want to know more about regenerative farming. Our farm income is diversified which helps us maintain some financial stability in the face of climate change, fluctuating harvests and other variables which are outside of our control.
“building food systems based on the culture, identity, tradition, social and gender equity of local communities that provide healthy, diversified, seasonally and culturally appropriate diets” (HLPE, 2019). is what we want to do and towards this we integrated with the local community, we work with our neighbours and promote community building practices.
We grow olives for olive oil, unirrigated almonds and oranges. Our farm is also an education project for people who want to learn about regenerative farming.
We dream of contributing towards the transition of neighbourhood farms into regenerative agriculture, we dream of a thriving local community that returns to the land to nourish and to be nourished and to maintain a food system in an area greatly endangered by the climate emergency.
