Podbukovc Organic & Permaculture Farm is more than a place of production — it is a living ecosystem where people, soil, water, plants, and animals coexist in harmony. For us, living and working on the land is both a privilege and a profound responsibility. Every action we take is guided by respect for natural cycles, biodiversity, and the wisdom of the landscape that sustains us.
Rooted in the principles of agroecology, permaculture, and regenerative farming, we cultivate systems designed to restore life rather than exhaust it. We design our fields, orchards, and gardens to mimic natural patterns, creating resilient polycultures, improving soil fertility through organic matter, welcoming beneficial insects, and reducing external inputs to the minimum. Everything on the farm is connected — water harvesting structures feed the soil, compost returns nutrients to the earth, and each species supports the others in a balanced and productive whole.
What we take from nature, we strive to return with gratitude and care. Our mission is to ensure that future generations inherit land that is healthier, more diverse, and more stable than what we received. By regenerating degraded areas, enriching the soil, and nurturing long-term ecological balance, we hope to leave a thriving ecosystem — one capable of supporting both people and wildlife for decades to come. Here, the true harvest is not only food, but resilience, learning, and a renewed relationship with the earth.
Our ancestors were homesteading at Podbukovc at least since the mid-18th century. As you can see in our family tree, Martin Jezeršek (1769-1844) and his wife Jera (née Krmelj, 1772-1854) lived and died on the farm. This is the earliest record of the Podbukovc farm we have.
